Janet Burge, Assistant Professor
We are proud to announce that Janet Burge, assistant professor of computer science and software engineering has recently published a book entitled: “Rationale-Based Software Engineering.” The rationale behind a software system includes the decisions made while developing the software, the alternatives considered, and the reasons that argue for and against those alternatives. The rationale provides insight into the intent of the software developers and can be used to support evaluation of design decision alternatives, collaborative development, and assessment of the impact of changing requirements and design criteria. The book describes how rationale can be captured and used at all stages of the software development process.
Burge joined the Miami Faculty in 2005 after receiving her PhD from Worcester Polytechnic University. She has also worked very hard with her CSE colleagues to develop the new Software Engineering Degree first being offered in 2009.
