These specially selected college-bound high school students represent the very finest in terms of academic achievement and future leadership potential. At the MLP they have an opportunity to network with one another and attend specialized workshops in areas like education, business, or engineering. The workshops are designed to provide an introduction to those various career fields.
Always a favorite, the Engineering Workshopprovides an opportunity for the students to learn about the engineering design process. The MLP students learned about the history of engineering and about the modern engineering design process as an example of critical thinking. They also learned some basic aerodynamic principles. Then they put everything they had learned to work by building and flying gliders. Finally, they learned about and made paper from pulp. Everyone had a great time and learned about the wonders of engineering.
